Who Was Brian?

Brian Kanterman made the ultimate sacrifice for the communities he loved.

Brian always set a great example of service even outside of his chosen career. He was the guy who could be found helping elderly folks load groceries into the car, holding the hand of an unsteady person crossing a busy street, buying a cup of coffee for someone in military uniform (and thanking them), and volunteering at animal shelters.

The tragic loss of a very close friend in a fire at age 13 was the catalyst for Brian’s career of service. At the age of 15, he became a volunteer EMT and eventually attained the rank of Captain. Once of legal age, he volunteered for Community Fire and then became a nationally certified firefighter. After college, he felt called to become a police officer and eventually became a Deputy Sheriff.

As a lifelong dog lover, Brian frequently went out of his way to meet and greet dogs he saw in public, often sharing selfies of him with his newest doggie friend. This made setting his sights on a promotion to K9 Officer position an easy decision. Unfortunately, he never got that opportunity because he became injured on patrol and moved to corrections while he healed from his injury. His move to corrections was supposed to be temporary. However, he sadly died in the line of duty on December 25, 2018 at the age of 25.

Brian impacted those around him and in his name we'd like to help pay it forward. It is our goal to raise funds to help those who protect and serve. From K9s to scholarships, we are here for those in need. So please, do not hesitate to reach out and donate today. Every little bit helps!
